RAJSHAHI, March 27, 2021(BSS)-A total of 58 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in five districts under Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours till Friday evening, climbing the number of infections to 26,444.
However, the new daily infection figure shows a slight high compared to the previous day’s figure of 53, said the health department sources. Of the infected patients, 24,699 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with nine new recoveries during the time, they said. A total of 3,067 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, they added.
Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,682 were kept in isolation units of hospitals for institutional supervision.
Of them, 5,999 have by now been released. On the other hand, 42 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 25 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
The number of deaths from the disease stands at 401 including 255 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi with one more fatality reported afresh after a gap of five consecutive days today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 24 were detected in Bogura, followed by 16 in Naogaon, eight in Rajshahi including six in its city and five each in Joypurhat and Sirajganj districts.
With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 6,380 in Rajshahi including 4,849 in its city, 834 in Chapainawabganj, 1,682 in Naogaon, 1,285 in Natore, 1,388 in Joypurhat, 10,275 in Bogura, 2,846 in Sirajganj and 1,774 in Pabna districts. A total of 66,771 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 65,690 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period. On the other hand, a total of 5,67,180 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Thursday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7. Of them, 8,403 people including 3,861 females were inoculated on Thursday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.
He also said 2,339 people including 1,101 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 738 including 366 females in Chapainawabganj, 429 including 156 females in Natore, 924 including 392 females in Naogaon Thursday.
Besides, a total of 893 persons including 432 females got vaccines in Pabna, 760 including 298 females in Sirajganj, 1,774 including 887 females in Bogura, 229 including 92 females in Joypurhat and 317 including 137 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
