Indian PM pays tribute to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

DHAKA, March 27, 2021 (BSS) – Visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and Golden Jubilee of the country’s Independence.

The Indian Premier paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his mausoleum there. After laying the wreath, Narendra Modi stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of Bangladesh’s independence.

A special doa, seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation, was also offered.

Sheikh Hasina along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana was present there at this time. They also showed the Indian Prime Minister various section of the mausoleum.

Earlier, on his arrival at Tungipara, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with Sheikh Rehana received Narendra Modi at the Bangabandhu Memorial Complex with a bouquet. The Indian Premier also signed the visitors’ book and planted a sapling there. “The life of Bangabandhu epitomized the freedom struggle of the people of Bangladesh for their rights for the presentation of their inclusive culture and identity. ” Modi wrote the visitors book.

His indomitable spirit and fortitude inspired millions, who emerged victorious despite challenging circumstances, the Indian PM wrote. “On behalf of the people of India who revere Bangabandhu as a hero, I pay humble homage to this great statesman of the 20th century,”Modi said.

“Bangabandhu is etched in the collective memory of the sub-continent, whose history he reshaped through the sheer force of his commitment and sacrifice,”Modi wrote, adding “In this historic Mujib Borsho, I am confident that his eternal message of equality, freedom, justice and inclusion will continue to guide our thoughts and actions.

” Narendra Modi arrived in the capital on Friday morning on a two-day official visit to attend the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of the country’sIndependence.
