Covid-19 cases cross 39,000 marks in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, March 27, 2021 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19)
positive cases in the district crossed 39,000 marks as 353 new cases were
diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 2,956 samples at seven COVID-19
laboratories in the last 24 hours.
“The infection rate is 11.94 percent, the highest infection rate in the
last nine months only in Chattogram district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil
surgeon of Chattogram, said today.
He urged all to strictly follow the health rules and use masks due to the
continuous increasing trend of corona infections here.
Among the newly detected patients, 294 are from Chattogram city and 59 from
different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
“The total numbers of COVID-19 patients now stand at 39,108 only in
Chattogram district till today,” Dr Rabbi said.
Among the total 39,108 coronavirus infected people, 31,039 are the
residents of the port city and the rest 8,069 are the inhabitants of
different upazilas of the district.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached
at 33,772 in the Chattogram district with today’s recovery of 50 more
patients,” he said.
A total of 1,139 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
Dr Rabbi said that the number of fatalities remained steady at 384 with no
more death was reported from anywhere in the district on Saturday.
Among the reported fatalities, 281 were the residents of the port city and
the rest 103 were from different upazilas of the district.
