Bangladesh mission in New Delhi celebrates Independence Day

NEW DELHI, March 26, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi
today celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day of
Bangladesh in a befitting manner.

The day’s programme began with hoisting of national flag on the high
commission premises this morning.

Later, the officers and employees of the mission placed wreaths at the
portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in
commemorating of the day.

On the occasion, messages from President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen and State Minister for
Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were read out.

One minute silence was observed to pay respect to the memory of the
valiant sons of Bangladesh soil who embraced martyrdom during the War of
Independence in 1971.

A discussion was also held with Acting High Commissioner Rokebul Haque in
the chair while Defence Adviser of the mission Brigadier General Md Abul
Kalam Azad took part in it.

The acting high commissioner and the Defence Adviser paid glowing tribute
to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for dedicating his
life for the cause of liberating the country from the Pakistani subjugation.

They also recalled the supreme sacrifices made by millions of people
including a number of Indian soldiers during the Liberation War of Bangladesh
in 1971 and those who were involved for achieving the independence with due
honour.

A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings of the departed
souls of Bangabandhu and millions of the Liberation War martyrs.

Besides, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and Mumbai also
observed the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh in a befitting
manner.
