39 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 25, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-nine more people were diagnosed
with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the
infection rate continues rising in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 39 new cases were reported after diagnosing 357
samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily
infection rate of 10.92 percent.

Among the 39 new patients diagnosed today, 21 were reported positive after
diagnosing 169 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College
(RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 21 new patients include 17 from Rangpur, two from Panchagarh and one
each from Gaibandha and Nilphamari districts,” said Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor
Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 18 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur today.

“The 18 new patients include 12 from Dinajpur, three from Nilphamari, two
from Thakurgaon and one from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process
at 8 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose
to 16,143 as 39 new positive cases were reported today from across the
division.

The district-wise break up of total 16,143 patients stands at 4,154 in
Rangpur, 801 in Panchagarh, 1,381 in Nilphamari, 970 in Lalmonirhat, 1,030 in
Kurigram, 1,527 in Thakurgaon, 4,797 in Dinajpur and 1,484 in Gaibandha,” Dr
Siddiqui said.
