Genocide Day observed in Mymensingh
MYMENSINGH, March 25, 2021 (BSS) – The National Genocide Day was observed in the district today in remembrance of the brutality carried out by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengalis on the black night of March 25 in 1971.
Marking the day, district administration chalked out elaborate programmes at the directives of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
On the occasion of the day, Divisional Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan placed wreaths at the martyred tombstone located in adjacent to ‘Dak Bangla’ area of the district this morning.
Later, Mymensingh Range DIG of police Barrister Harun ur Rashid, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque, Superintendent of Police Ahmar Uzzaman, City Corporation Secretary Rajib Sarkar, District and Metropolitan Awami League, Bir Muktijoddha Command, administration officials and other socio-cultural organisations of the town also placed wreaths on the martyred tombstone to pay their rich tribute.
A discussion meeting was also held at Shilpakala Academy of the city on the initiative of the district administration.
