Tokyo stocks close higher on bargain-hunting after market’s slide
TOKYO, March 25,2021 (BSS/XINHUA)- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday as investors sought out issues oversold during the market’s four-day losing streak when rising coronavirus cases in Europe sparked concerns over the outlook for the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 324.36 points, or 1.14 percent to close at 28,729.88.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 26.97 points, or 1.40 percent, to finish at 1,955.55.
Marine transportation, nonferrous metal and mining-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most by the close of play.
