85 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 25, 2021(BSS)-A total of 85 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in six districts under Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours till Wednesday evening, climbing the number of infections to 26,633.

However, the new daily infection figure shows a significant high compared to the previous day’s figure of 56, said the health department sources. Of the infected patients, 24,680 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 80 new recoveries during the time, they said.

A total of 3,061 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, they added. Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,674 were kept in isolation units of hospitals for institutional supervision.

Of them, 5,994 have by now been released. On the other hand, 70 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 24 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 400 including 254 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh for the fourth consecutive day today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 42 were detected in Rajshahi including 41 in its city, followed by 28 in Bogura, seven in Pabna, four in Natore, three in Sirajganj and one in Naogaon districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 6,329 in Rajshahi including 4,820 in its city, 834 in Chapainawabganj, 1,664 in Naogaon, 1,281 in Natore, 1,382 in Joypurhat, 10,235 in Bogura, 2,835 in Sirajganj and 1,773 in Pabna districts.

A total of 66,706 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 65,637 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period. On the other hand, a total of 5,58,777 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Wednesday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 11,502 people including 5,657 females were inoculated on Wednesday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder. He also said 2,517 people including 1,190 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 3,344 including 1,987 females in Chapainawabganj, 466 including 168 females in Natore, 842 including 371 females in Naogaon on Wednesday.

Besides, a total of 1,241 persons including 612 females got vaccines in Pabna, 619 including 232 females in Sirajganj, 1,854 including 850 females in Bogura, 199 including 89 females in Joypurhat and 380 including 158 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
