BKSP emerge champions in Women’s Hockey

DHAKA, March 24, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP)
emerged champions in the Women’s Development Independence Cup Hockey
competition beating Narail district by 6-0 goals in the final held today at
Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

In the day’s final match, Arpita Paul and Shantina Tudu scored two field
goals in the 2nd and 11th minutes and 57th and 58th minutes respectively
while Sonia Khatun and Tarin Akter Kushi supported them with a lone goal each
in the 12th and 33rd minutes for the winners’ in the one-sided affairs.

The champions received Taka sixty thousand while the runners-up got Taka
forty thousand as prize money.

Arpita Paul of the BKSP was named the best player of the tournament while
Nomita Korkomar of Narail district received the highest scorer award. The
best player and highest scorer of the tournament received cash prize of Taka
ten thousand each.

Earlier on Tuesday last, on way to the final, BKSP crushed Jhenaidah
district by 7-0 goals in the first semifinal while Narail district defeated
Rajshahi district by 3-2 goals in the second semis.

A total of thirteen teams, twelve district teams and Bangladesh Krira
Shikka Prothistan (BKSP), split into four groups, are taking part in the
meet, organized by Bangladesh Hockey Federation.

The participating teams:

Group A – Jhenaidah, Joypurhat and Thakurgaon districts.

Group B – Narail, Chattogram and Jessore districts.

Group C – Rajshahi, Rangpur and Dinajpur districts.

Group D – BKSP, Kishorganj, Cox’s Bazar and Mymensingh districts.
