GAIBANDHA, MAR 24, 2021 (BSS)-Annual sports competition for the inmates of
Government Shishu Paribar (Girls) was held on its premises at Shukhnagar area
of the town here yesterday amid much festivity to the concerned.
The competition was held through the active participation of the inmates
at 13 events including high jump, long jump, cock fight, and race.
Besides, the cultural competition was also held among the inmates of the
paribar at 19 events, said an official of the institute.
In the morning around 10 am, deputy commissioner Md. Abdul Matin formally
inaugurated the sports competition through releasing pigeons as the chief
guest.
Speaking on the occasion, DC M. Abdul Matin urged the authority concerned
for arranging different sports and other co-curricular activities to the
inmates regularly to help them build their sound health and flourish their
merits.
Later, the DC formally distributed the prizes to the winners in the
afternoon as the chief guest and deputy director of Social Services
Department M. Emdadul Haque Pramanik was present as the special guest.
Assistant director of the department Md. Quamruzzaman Sarker, Sadar
upazila social services officer Nsir Hossain, deputy superintendent of the
shishu paribar Md. Shahabul Alam, and other officials of the department were
present on the occasion.
Similar sports and cultural competition for the inmates of Government
Shishu Paribar (Boys) located at Professor Colony of the town here on the
same day, official sources said.
