Railway communication restored in Rajshahi after 7 hrs
RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2018 (BSS)- Rail communication of Rajshahi with the
rest of the country was restored today after a seven-hour disruption
caused by derailment.
Golam Mostofa, Superintendent of Rajshahi Railway Station said the train
service resumed around 6.30 am after reinstatement of the derailed
compartments along with other necessary repair works.
The rail communication was disrupted around 9:30 pm on Monday when
wheels of three compartments of the Rajshahi-bound ‘Titumir Express’ from
Chilahati veered off the tracks near Arani railway station, he added.
Abdur Rouf, Station Master of Arani Station, said the Titumir express
train came in close proximity with an Ishwardi bound commuter train from
Rajshahi. But, drivers of both the trains could avert a possible fatal
accident as they managed to stop their respective trains with a gap of 500
yards.
However, at least ten passengers of Titumir train were reportedly
injured in stampede as they tried to get off the train in panic. But, their
identity could not be known as yet.
