NCL: Chattogram takes 178-run lead in 18-wicket day

DHAKA, March 23, 2021 (BSS)-A total of 18 wickets were fallen on day two before Chattogram took the control of the game against Rajshahi Division in the first round of the Bangabandhu 22 nd National Cricket League (NCL) at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.

Despite ending the day two on 43-5, Chattogram had overall lead of 178 against Rajshahi, largely due to their 135-run first innings lead.

Chattogram which started the day on 256-7, could add just 31 runs to their overnight total to be all out 187 in the first innings. Bulk of the runs came from the willow of Shahadat Hossain Dipu as he made 108.

However when Rajshahi sensed a golden chance to dominate Chattogram, the port city bowler came up with strong performance and shot Rajshahi out for just 152 runs.

Noman Ahmed led the bowling with 4-47 while pacer Mehedi Hasan Rana also wrecked havoc on Rajshahi, snaring 3-22.

Farhad Reza who took 4-44 with bowling, was the highest scorer for Rajshahi with batting too as he made 27 not out.

With 135 runs first innings deficite, Farhad again dazzled with bowling in Chattogram’s second innings, as he took 3-18 to reduce them to 43-5.

Before the bails were drawn for day two, Mahmudul Hasan Joy was batting on 26.
