BKSP, Narail reach final in Women’s Hockey

DHAKA, March 23, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) and Narail district reached the final of Women’s Development Independence Cup Hockey competition after winning their respective semifinal matches held today at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

The final between BKSP and Narail district will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at the same venue at 4 pm.

Air Chief Marshal and Bangladesh Hockey Federation president Masihuzzaman Serniabat is expected to present in the final as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.

In the day’s first semifinal, BKSP crushed Jhenaidah district by 7-0 goals.

In the proceeding, Arpita Paul and Borsha Khatun both scored two field goals each in the 28th, 31st and 29th and 59th minutes respectively while Sonia Khatun, Tarin Akter Kushi and Shimu Akter Shima netted one goal apiece for BKSP in the 44th, 52nd and 58th minutes respectively in the one-sided affairs.

In the day’s second semifinal, Narail district defeated Rajshahi district by 3-2 goals. In the proceeding, Nomita Karmokart scored two field goals in the 32nd and 57th minutes while Sanchita Karmokar supported her with a lone goal converting a penalty corner in the 20th minute of the match.

Situ Khatun scored two goals for Rajshahi in the 29th and 39th minutes.

A total of thirteen teams, twelve district teams and Bangladesh Krira Shikka Prothistan (BKSP), split into four groups, are taking part in the meet, organized by BHF.

The participating teams:

Group A – Jhenaidah, Joypurhat and Thakurgaon districts.

Group B – Narail, Chattogram and Jessore districts. Group C – Rajshahi, Rangpur and Dinajpur districts.

Group D – BKSP, Kishorganj, Cox’s Bazar and Mymensingh districts.
