Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

DHAKA, March 23, 2021 (BSS) – Stock markets today witnessed flat when
daily transactions declined on lower demand.

The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 6,310.67 million from
Monday’s Taka 6,931.71 million and the daily trade fell to 16.14 crore shares
from 21.27 crore of the previous session.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
1.53 points up at 5,413.73. The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend
with 1.64 points up at 1,237.60. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with
3.30 points down at 2,063.57.

At the DSE, prices of 93 securities out of the day’s 347 closed higher
against 140 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Continental Insurance, Nitol Insurance,
Prime Insurance, Sonar Bangla Insurance and Provati Insurance.

The major losing issues were Aziz Pipes, Rahima Food, NRBC Bank,
ANLIMAYARN and Fine Foods. Beximco topped the turnover list followed by
Beximco Pharma, Robi, Lanka Bangla Finance and BATBC.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a
downward trend with its major CASPI 6.28 points down at 15,671.61.

At the CSE, a total of 233 issues were traded while 77 closed higher and
97 closed lower as 23.46 lakh shares worth Taka 91.26 lakh changed hands.
