HC rules over launching website for digital registration of marriage,
divorce
DHAKA, March 23, 2021 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today issued a rule
asking authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not
pass an order to launch a website for digital registration of marriage and
divorce.
A High Court division virtual bench comprising Justice Md Mozibur Rahman
Miah and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order after holding
hearing on a writ filed in this regard.
The court in its order asked the Law and Justice Division Secretary,
Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary, ICT Division
Secretary, Religious Affairs Secretary and BTRC Chairman to reply the rule.
Supreme Court lawyer Ishrat Hasan filed the writ on behalf of Aid for Men
Foundation secretary Saiful Islam Nadim, Md Sohag Hossain from Magura, Md
Rakib Hasan from Uttara and Md Kamrul Hasan from Noakhali.
