20 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 22, 2021 (BSS) – Twenty more people, the highest number in
the last more than two months, were reported coronavirus (COVID-19) positive
today in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 20 new cases were reported after diagnosing 269
samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily
infection rate of 7.43 percent.

Among the 20 new patients diagnosed today, 16 were reported positive after
diagnosing 175 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College
(RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 16 new patients include 12 from Rangpur, two from Gaibandha and one
each from Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts,” said Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor
Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, four new patients were reported positive after
diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The four new patients include two each from Dinajpur and Thakurgaon
districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS
after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 16,044 as 20 new positive cases were reported today from across the
division.

“The district-wise break up of total 16,044 patients stands at 4,110 in
Rangpur, 796 in Panchagarh, 1,373 in Nilphamari, 970 in Lalmonirhat, 1,028 in
Kurigram, 1,524 in Thakurgaon, 4,763 in Dinajpur and 1,480 in Gaibandha,” Dr.
Siddiqui said.
