German shares record small losses at start of trading on Monday

BERLIN, March 22,2021 (BSS/XINHUA)- German shares recorded small losses at the start of trading on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 69.83 points, or 0.48 percent, opening at 14,551.17 points.

The biggest winner among Germany’s 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was carmaker Volkswagen, increasing by 3.03 percent, followed by chipmaker Infineon with 1.90 percent and Siemens Energy with 1.67 percent.

On Monday, Siemens Energy was promoted to the DAX. The subsidiary of technology giant Siemens replaced consumer goods company Beiersdorf, which was moved to the MDAX, Germany’s second tier index for the country’s next 60 largest listed companies.

Shares of Siemens fell by 1.87 percent. The German technology giant was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Monday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds went down 0.024 percentage points to minus 0.318 percent, and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1890 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.03 percent on Monday morning.
