RAJSHAHI, March 22, 2021 (BSS)- A court here today sentenced a man to
death for raping a girl in Rajshahi three years back.
The court found the convict identified as Nazrul Islam, 50, a resident
of Silinda area, guilty of the charge and pronounced the verdict in his
presence in the court. He was also fined Taka one lakh simultaneously.
Rajshahi’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge
Monsur Alam pronounced the verdict after examining the recorded depositions
of the prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence.
According to the prosecution witnesses, the accused raped the girl while
she was alone in resident on May 14, 2018.
Sensing the issue, the mother of the victim had lodged a case with the
concerned police station.
Additional Public Prosecutor Rashed-Un-Nabi conducted the case on behalf
of the state.
