24,536 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 22, 2021 (BSS) – With the recovery of 18 more coronavirus infected persons on Sunday, the total number of cured patients from the virus (Covid-19) reached 24,536 in the division, said an official report today.

A total of 3,042 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it added.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death toll from the virus rose to 400, including 254 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi, with no fatality reported afresh today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,647 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,985 have already been released.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 33 new positive cases in four districts here on Sunday, the afresh infection figure shows a slightly falling trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 43, the total number of infected patients rose to 26,128, Dr Habibul said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest 22 were detected in Rajshahi including 20 in its city, followed by seven in Bogura, three in Natore and one in Joypurhat districts.

With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stand at 6,234 in Rajshahi including 4,733 in its city, 829 in Chapainawabganj, 1,663 in Naogaon, 1,270 in Natore, 1,382 in Joypurhat, 10,179 in Bogura, 2,823 in Sirajganj and 1,748 in Pabna.

On the other hand, 44 more persons have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 22 were released from quarantine in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 66,578 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 65,568 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

On the other hand, a total of 5,26,681 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Sunday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 10,986 people including 5,088 females were inoculated on Sunday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 2,688 people including 1,321 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 485 including 201 females in Chapainawabganj, 668 including 256 females in Natore, 1,091 including 528 females in Naogaon Sunday.

Besides, a total of 1,671 persons including 955 females got vaccines in Pabna, 1,799 including 721 females in Sirajganj, 1,874 including 723 females in Bogura, 310 including 115 females in Joypurhat and 428 including 205 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
