12,011 more get COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 21, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 12,011 citizens were vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines today (Tuesday) raising the total number of vaccine recipients to 4,78,262 in Rangpur division.

“The 12,011 citizens, who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today, include 6,283 male and 5,728 female,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS this evening.

The total 4,78,262 citizens vaccinated so far with the COVID-19 vaccines include 2,92,551 male and 1,85,711 female of all eight districts in the division.

“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign since February 7 last, the vaccine recipients are feeling well though 71 of them experienced adverse distress for a few minutes following vaccination in the division,” Dr. Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of total 4,78,262 vaccine recipients stands at 1,21,274 in Rangpur, 35,834 in Panchagarh, 64,890 in Nilphamari, 31,512 in Lalmonirhat, 39,494 in Kurigram, 43,853 in Thakurgaon, 91,911 in Dinajpur and 49,494 in Gaibandha.

Talking to BSS at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre today, a number of vaccine recipients appreciated the excellent management arranged there for vaccinating registered citizens.

Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr. Herambo Kumar Roy said the COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues smoothly at sixteen booths set up at RpMCH and other eight upazila health complexes in the district since February 7 last.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu expressed happiness over enthusiasm among citizens in taking the vaccines.

He suggested common people to abide by the health safety guidelines and wear face masks to contain the rising trend of the COVID-19 infection rate.
