43 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 21, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 43 more people have tested
positive for COVID-19 in seven districts under Rajshahi division in the last
24 hours till Saturday evening, climbing the number of infections to 26,095.

However, the new daily infection figure shows a slightly declining trend
compared to the previous day’s figure of 68, said the health department
sources.

Of the infected patients, 24,518 have, so far, been cured from the
lethal virus with 20 new recoveries during the time, they said.

A total of 3,040 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, they added.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 6,643 were kept in isolation units of
hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,985 have by now been
released.

On the other hand, 35 more people have been sent to home and
institutional quarantine afresh while 24 others were released in the division
over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 400 including 254 in
Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi with one more fatality reported afresh after a gap
of five consecutive days today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional
Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 14 were detected each in
Bogura and Rajshahi city, followed by five in Pabna, four in Sirajganj, three
in Natore, two in Naogaon and one in Joypurhat districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19
cases now stands at 6,212 in Rajshahi including 4,713 in its city, 829 in
Chapainawabganj, 1,663 in Naogaon, 1,267 in Natore, 1,381 in Joypurhat,
10,172 in Bogura, 2,823 in Sirajganj and 1,748 in Pabna districts.

A total of 66,534 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).

Of them, 65,546 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

On the other hand, a total of 5,15,695 people have been vaccinated for
Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Saturday last since
the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 11,182 people including 5,177 females were inoculated on
Saturday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 1,520 people including 1,331 females received vaccines in
Rajshahi, 805 including 391 females in Chapainawabganj, 306 including 139
females in Natore, 560 including 241 females in Naogaon Saturday.

Besides, a total of 1,875 persons including 1,036 females got vaccines
in Pabna, 1,832 including 853 females in Sirajganj, 2,296 including 886
females in Bogura, 229 including 95 females in Joypurhat and 428 including
205 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
