Secretary Kamal for coordinated efforts of stakeholders to address flood

GAIBANDHA, July 17, 2018 (BSS) – Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief M. Shah Kamal at a function here today underscored the need for addressing the flood in the district through coordinated and cordial efforts of all the stakeholders.

“It is not possible to face the flood for a single department or any individual and to mitigate the people’s sufferings caused by floods all of us should come forward with the positive attitude from the respective positions” Kamal said while addressing a meeting at the district Collectorate Building conference room as the chief guest.

Additional secretary of the ministry M. Mohsin and joint secretary Golam Mostafa were present at the event as the special guests while deputy commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal presided over the meeting.

Secretary Shah Kamal said Bangladesh had become a role model in facing the natural disasters including the flood smoothly.

He asked the officials concerned to gear up their departmental activities and stand beside the distressed and flood affected people in the district in a bid to address the flood situation properly.

Later, the secretary allotted Tk 8 lakh for making boats, 200 metric tons of rice, 2000 packets of dried food, 500 bundles of CI sheet, and Tk 5 lakh for the flood hit people of the district.

All the district level officials, upazila chairmen, UNOs, upazila project implementation officers, NGO representatives, and journalists of print and electronic media took part in the meeting.
