DHAKA, March 20, 2021 (BSS) – Dubbing former President Zillur Rahman as a
‘bright star’ in country’s political history, Awami League Presidium Member
Begum Matia Chowdhury today said he (Zillur) dedicated his life to the
welfare of the people.
“Zillur Rahman was a fearless soldier of Awami League (AL). He was a
successful leader and he dedicated his life to the welfare of the country and
the nation,” she said while addressing a commemorative meeting of late
President Zillur Rahman at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall room of the
National Press Club here.
Zillur Rahman’s death anniversary observance committee organized the
commemorative meeting marking the 8th death anniversary of the country’s ex-
president.
His death was an irreparable loss for the country, nation and Awami
League, which cannot be met, she added.
With Zillur Rahman’s death anniversary observance committee President M A
Karim in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Awami League
(AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif, Deputy Minister for Water
Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shameem and AL Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain.
Recalling contributions of Zillur Rahman to the political landscape of the
country, AL Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif said he worked
throughout his life following the ideology of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Zillur never compromised with anyone on four issues – Awami League,
Independence, Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina, added Hanif.
