Five more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 19, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were reported coronavirus (COVID-19)
positive today in Rangpur division where the daily infection rate continues showing a rising trend
in recent days.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at two
COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 2.66 percent.

Among the five new patients diagnosed today, three were reported positive after diagnosing 94
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The three new patients include two from Rangpur and one from Kurigram districts,” Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr.
AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, two new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-
19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“Both of the two new patients are jailing from Dinajpur district,” Principal of MARMC Professor
Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,004 as five new
positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of 16,004 patients stands at 4,095 in Rangpur, 796 in Panchagarh,
1,368 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat, 1,028 in Kurigram, 1,519 in Thakurgaon, 4,755 in
Dinajpur and 1,475 in Gaibandha in the division.
