37 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 19, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 37 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in three districts under Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours till Thursday evening, climbing the number of infections to 25,984.

However, the new daily infection figure shows a slightly declining trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 50, said the health department sources.

Of the infected patients, 24,475 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with nine new recoveries during the time, they said.

A total of 3,027 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, they added.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,632 were kept in isolation units of hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,981 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 53 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 62 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 399 including 253 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh for the fourth consecutive day today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 19 were detected in Bogura, followed by 15 in Rajshahi including 14 in its city and three in Natore districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 6,188 in Rajshahi including 4,689 in its city, 829 in Chapainawabganj, 1,656 in Naogaon, 1,264 in Natore, 1,378 in Joypurhat, 10,108 in Bogura, 2,818 in Sirajganj and 1,743 in Pabna districts.

A total of 66,451 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 65,495 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

On the other hand, a total of 5,04,513 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Thursday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 14,079 people including 6,584 females were inoculated on Thursday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 2,327 people including 1,128 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 1,410 including 715 females in Chapainawabganj, 571 including 220 females in Natore, 1,269 including 554 females in Naogaon Thursday.

Besides, a total of 3,160 persons including 1,612 females got vaccines in Pabna, 2,069 including 5,921 females in Sirajganj, 2,409 including 1,088 females in Bogura, 444 including 151 females in Joypurhat and 420 including 195 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
