DHAKA, March 18, 2021 (BSS) – The nation today celebrated the second day of the ten-day programme of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of the Independence with the theme ‘Mohakaler Torjoni’.
The colourful function began with the presentation of title animation video on the theme of ‘Mujib Chirantan’. The theme song was played on the occasion.
National-level singers along with young artistes sang the Mujib Year’s theme song titled “Tumi Banglar Dhrubo Tara and Banglar Batighar” authored by poet Kamal Chowdhury and composed by Nakib Khan.
Later, Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech.
In his speech, he said the theme ‘Mohakaler Torjoni’ has been selected based on speech of Bangabandhu’s March 7 and the speech has changed the course of history of Bangalee nation.
In 1975, Chowdhury said, the anti-liberation forces wanted to erase Bangabandhu’s name, but after his assassination, his name became more brighter among the people.
“Bangabandhu is a unique source of inspiration. In the heart of Bangalees, Bangabandhu has been placed in the immortal position. His historic March 7 speech is the best epic of Bangalees,” he added.
After the welcome speech, an audiovisual presentation based on ‘Mohakaler Torjoni’ was made which was followed by a discussion on the theme by eminent educationist Dr Alamgir Mohammad Sirajuddin.
During the discussion, Dr Sirajuddin said Bangabandhu declared the independence as per his commitment and after that he was arrested instead of fleeing by the Pakistani Army.
The discussion session concluded with a video message from Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
At the cultural part, a recorded cultural ceremony of friendly country Vietnam was staged. Later, the audiovisual presentation on the theme ‘Mohakaler Torjoni’ was made which featured various chapters of the struggling life of the Father of the Nation.
The cultural programme ended with the presentation of Pot’s song with the historic March 7 speech, orchestra music, songs written on Bangabandhu at different times, light and sound show based on Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech and a chorus song by two generations of artistes.
The nation on Wednesday began the 10-day celebration of the Father of the Nation’s Birth Centenary coinciding with the Golden Jubilee of 1971 Independence with a grand ceremony at the National Parade Square.
President M Abdul Hamid attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest, while Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih joined it as the guest of honour.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the function, while Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana was present on the decorated dais.
The recorded speeches of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Japanese Premier Yoshihide Suga and famous British journalist Mark Talley were broadcast on the occasion.
Chairman of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee National Professor Rafiqul Islam was also present on the dais.
Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa will join the tomorrow’s event as guest of honour, while Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will be present on March 22.
Bhutanese Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering will be present at the National Parade Ground on March 24 while Pope Francis will deliver the welcome speech through virtually.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the closing day of the 10-day event on March 26 and deliver his speech.
