101st birth anniversary of Bangabandhu celebrated in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, March 18, 2021 (BSS) -The 101st birth anniversary of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day -2021
was celebrated in the district in a befitting manner.

Netrakona district administration, Awami League and its front organizations
and different socio-cultural organizations and professional groups chalked
out various programmes to observe the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu with
pomp and gaiety.

The day’s programme began with hoisting of national flag atop all the
government and private buildings at dawn.

At 8 o’ clock in the morning, state minister for social welfare and
valiant freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, deputy commissioner of
Netrakona Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman, police super Netrakona Akber Ali
Munshi, chairman of Netrakona Zila parishad Prasanta Kumar Ray and mayor of
Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan paid glowing tributes to Bangabandhu
by placing wreaths at his portrait at Muktomoncho in local Muktarpara ground.

Besides, district-level officers, public representatives, political
leaders, freedom fighters and leaders of different socio-cultural political
organizations and heads of different educational institutions also placed
wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

As part of the programmes, the district administration arranged a birthday
cake cutting function and cultural function at the Muktarpara ground in the
morning.

State minister for social welfare Ashraf Ali Khan formally cut a 100-pound
birthday cake at the Mukthomancho on the Muktarpara ground.

A Milad Mahfil was held and special prayers were offered at Netrakona
central Jam-e-Mosque after Zohr prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed
soul of Bangabandhu, four national leaders and martyrs of war of
independence.

Special prayers were also offered in mosques and other places of worship
marking the day.

Netrakona district information office arranged screening of documentary
film on the life and works of Bangabandhu for the school students at
Netrakona central Shaheed Minar premises at noon.

Improved food items were supplied to the inmates of hospitals, orphanage
family centers and jails on the day.

To mark the day, Netrakona Sheikh Hasina University organized a discussion
meeting at its hall room here at noon.

State minister for social welfare Ashraf Ali Khan addressed the meeting as
chief guest while Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP, was present as special
guest. Renowned poet Nirmalendu Goon addressed the meeting as main speaker
and eminent writer Dr. Salina Hussain spoke as special speaker.

The vice chancellor of the university professor Dr. Rafiqullah Khan
presided over the meeting.
