RAJSHAHI, March 18, 2021 (BSS) – With the recovery of eight more
coronavirus infected persons on Wednesday, the total number of cured patients
from the virus (Covid-19) reached 24,466 in the division, said an official
report today.
A total of 3,019 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, it added.
Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death
toll from the virus rose to 399, including 253 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi,
with no fatality reported afresh for the third consecutive day today.
Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 6,624 were kept in isolation units of
different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,978 have
already been released.
Meanwhile, with the detection of 50 new positive cases in six districts
here on Wednesday, the afresh infection figure shows a significant surging
trend compared to the previous couple of days, the total number of infected
patients rose to 25,947, Dr Habibul said.
Of the new positive cases, the highest 24 were detected in Bogura,
followed by 12 in Rajshahi city, seven in Naogaon, five in Sirajganj and one
each in Joypurhat and Pabna districts.
With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-
19 patients now stand at 6,173 in Rajshahi including 4,675 in its city, 829
in Chapainawabganj, 1,656 in Naogaon, 1,261 in Natore, 1,378 in Joypurhat,
10,089 in Bogura, 2,818 in Sirajganj and 1,743 in Pabna.
On the other hand, 23 more persons have been sent to home and
institutional quarantine afresh while 24 were released from quarantine in the
division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
A total of 66,398 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).
Of them, 65,433 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
On the other hand, a total of 4,90,434 people have been vaccinated for
Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Tuesday last since
the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.
Of them, 11,814 people including 5,647 females were inoculated on
Tuesday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.
He also said 3,165 people including 1,536 females received vaccines in
Rajshahi, 946 including 462 females in Chapainawabganj, 475 including 210
females in Natore, 941 including 424 females in Naogaon Tuesday.
Besides, a total of 1,302 persons including 681 females got vaccines in
Pabna, 2,297 including 1,089 females in Sirajganj, 1,940 including 883
females in Bogura, 300 including 210 females in Joypurhat and 448 including
233 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
