15 jailed for drug addiction
RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2018 (BSS) -Two separate mobile courts in the district
of Rajshahi and Joypurhat on Monday sentenced 15 persons to different jail
terms on charge of taking drugs and drug trading.
Sources concerned said earlier Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 16
alleged drug addicts in two separate drives in the two districts. The
arrested were produced before the concerned mobile courts.
The courts awarded different jail terms to 15 of the arrested persons. One of
the detained persons was fined Taka 5,000 by the court.
RAB sources said the elite force during the drives also seized 75 grams of
ganja and some other drugs-taking instrument.
Saiful Islam, assistant superintendent of police working with the RAB,
said different courts in the districts have sent more than 508 drug addicts
to jail in the last 20 days.
