Bangabandhu basketball, badminton meets conclude

DHAKA, March 17, 2021 (BSS)- Mercury team emerged champions with six points
while Black Horse finished runners-up with four points in the Bangabandhu
basketball tournament that concluded today at Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women’s
Sports Complex in the city, said a Bangladesh Women’s Sports Associations
(BWSA) press release today.

In the badminton tournament finals also held today at the same venue.
Shomvobona Hasan emerged champions in the singles of junior group while
Mahiya Rahman finished runners-up.

In the senior group singles final, Sumiya Anjum Ava emerged champion while
Tasmina finished runners-up. In the senior group doubles, Sumiya Anjum Ava
and Syeda Sumiya Alam pair emerged champions beating Reshma Anjum Urmi and
Sarara Mushararat Turna pair in the final.

After the tournament final matches, Youth and Sports Ministry’s Additional
Secretary (Sports-1) Mohammad Abdul Karim distributed the prizes as the chief
guest.

National Sports Council director (planning and development) Mohammad Sarwar
Jahan was present as the special guest in the prize distribution ceremony.

After the closing ceremony a ‘doa mahfil’ was also held there.

The BWSA organised both the tournaments marking the birth centenary of
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
