National booters celebrate Bangabandhu’s 101st birth anniversary

DHAKA, March 17, 2021 (BSS)- The national football team today observed
101st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman by cutting cake at the Modhumoti hall of Hotel Inter Continental in
the city.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin,
its vice-president Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan, FIFA executive member Mahfuza Akter
Kiron, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, BFF executive members,
national football team trainer, BFF technical director Paul Thomas Smalley,
its assistant coach and members of the national team were present on the
occasion.

Earlier, the BFF celebrated the day through different programmes at the BFF
Bhaban.

The day began with Quran khwani. Marking the day, BFF distributed foods
among the poor after holding a ‘milad mahfil’ at Jhilpar Jame mosque
adjoining the BFF Bhaban after Zohr prayers. Cutting of cake was also a part
of the celebration of BFF that was held in the afternoon its bhaban.

During the celebration of Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary, Salahuddin said,
while talking to the pressmen, Bangladesh became independent for
Bangabandhu’s great leadership.

He said he is extremely lucky that as being of BFF President he has able to
celebrate the Bangabandhu’s 101st birth anniversary with the national team
players.

Considering himself as lucky, Salahuddin said he had the opportunity to
come in close to Bangabandhu as well as his family members several occasions.

BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, its vice presidents
Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, FIFA executive member Mahfuza
Akter Kiron, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, BFF executive members
and officials and women’s footballers were present in the cake cutting
ceremony.
