Bangladesh’s intra-squad practice game in New Zealand tomorrow
DHAKA, March 15, 2021 (BSS)- The Bangladesh squad, split into two teams,
will play a practice game tomorrow at Queenstown in a bid to prepare them for
the limited over series against New Zealand.
This will be Tigers’ only warm-up game ahead of the series. Tamim Iqbal and
Nazmul Hossain Shanto will lead the two sides-that will be named after Tamim
XI and Nazmul XI. Each squad was consisted with 12 players.
Five local New Zealand players will also feature in the game– two in
Tamim’s team and three in Nazmul’s team– as Bangladesh has now 19 players in
the team with Mosaddek Hossain Saikat being ruled out due to knee injury.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in a statement said, “Mosaddek hurt his
knee during fielding practice on day one of training in Queenstown. He is not
available for the warm-up match as he is recovering.”
Upon their arrival to New Zealand, Tigers had to stay quarantine for 14
days, with being room quarantine for first three days. Later, they had small
group training for the last seven days before they moved to Queenstown for a
whole group practice session.
Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series, which is the part of ICC ODI
Super League and as many T20 Internationals in this tour.
The Tigers will play the first ODI against New Zealand on March 20 at
University of Otago in Dunedin. The second ODI is on March 23 at Hagley Oval
in Christchurch and the third ODI is at Basin Reserve in Wellington on March
26. The first and third ODI will start at 4 am (Bangladesh Time) and the
second one will begin at Bangladesh Time 7 am.
The first T20 of the series will be held at Seddon Park, Hamilton on March
28 and starts at 7 am (Bangladesh time). The second ODI is at McLean Park,
Napier on March 30 while the third T20 is at Eden Park, Auckland on April 1.
The second and third T20 starts at 12 pm (Bangladesh time).
