Five more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 14, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were reported coronavirus
(COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the daily infection rates
continue showing a rising trend in recent days.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported after diagnosing
169 samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division at the daily
infection rate of 2.96 percent today.

The today’s infection rate is little lower than the same during the last
one week in the division.

Earlier, the daily infection rate remained below the five percent mark
almost during the last one month and below the 10 percent mark during the
last more than two and a half months in the division.

Among the five new patients diagnosed today, one hailing from Rangpur was
reported positive after diagnosing 87 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at
Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

On the other hand, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 82
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur today.

“The four new COVID-19 patients include one each from Dinajpur and
Thakurgaon and two from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor
Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 15,925 as five new positive cases were reported today across the
division.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,925 infected patients stands at
4,073 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,345 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat,
1,026 in Kurigram, 1,514 in Thakurgaon, 4,733 in Dinajpur and 1,471 in
Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
