15,505 COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 14, 2021 (BSS) – The number of recovered coronavirus
(COVID-19) infected patients rose to 15,505 with the healing of three more
eight infected persons on Saturday in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the number of total infected patients rose to
15,920 as six new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Saturday after
testing 117 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 5.13 percent
in the division.

“Among the total of 15,920 infected patients, 15,505 have healed in the
division at the average recovery rate of 97.39 percent,” Focal Person of
COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui
said.

The 15,505 recovered patients include 3,970 of Rangpur, 773 of
Panchagarh, 1,303 of Nilphamari, 954 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,477
of Thakurgaon, 4,602 of Dinajpur and 1,446 of Gaibandha districts in the
division.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,920 infected patients stands at
4,072 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,343 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat,
1,026 in Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,732 in Dinajpur and 1,471 in
Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Since the beginning of outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 1,10,099
collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Saturday, and of them,
15,920 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.46
percent.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said
the number of fatalities remained steady at 309 with one more death reported
from anywhere in Rangpur division on Saturday.

The district-wise break up of the 309 fatalities stands at 72 in
Rangpur, 111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 29 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram,
20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the
division,” he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.94 percent in the
division,” he said.

Among the total 15,920 COVID-19 infected patients, seven are undergoing
treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,505 patients and 309
deaths while 99 remaining in home isolation across the division.

Meanwhile, a total 3,98,966 citizens, including 2,51,386 males and
1,47,580 females, have so far been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines till
Saturday in all eight districts of Rangpur division since February 7 last.

“Since the beginning, a total of 95,947 people of the division were put
in institutional isolation or home quarantines, and of them, 93,423 released
till Sunday morning,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged
people to properly abide by the health directives to check the COVID-19
infection rate.
