24,434 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, March 14, 2021 (BSS) – With the recovery of seven more
coronavirus infected persons on Saturday, the total number of cured patients
from the virus (Covid-19) reached 24,434 in the division, said an official
report today.

A total of 3,012 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, it added.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death
toll from the virus rose to 398, including 252 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi,
with no fatality reported afresh for the eighth consecutive day today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 6,613 were kept in isolation units of
different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,965 have
already been released.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 19 new positive cases in four districts
here on Saturday, the infection figure is almost similar to the previous
couple of days, the total number of infected patients rose to 25,841, Dr
Habibul said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest eight were detected in Rajshahi
city, followed by five in Sirajganj, three each in Natore and Bogura
districts.

With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19
patients now stand at 6,134 in Rajshahi including 4,637 in its city, 829 in
Chapainawabganj, 1,647 in Naogaon, 1,258 in Natore, 1,374 in Joypurhat,
10,052 in Bogura, 2,808 in Sirajganj and 1,739 in Pabna.

On the other hand, 14 more persons have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 21 were released from quarantine in the division over
the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 66,275 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).

Of them, 65,340 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

On the other hand, a total of 4,56,170 people have been vaccinated for
Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Saturday last since
the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7. Of those, 10,785
people including 4,339 females were vaccinated yesterday, said Dr Habibul
Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 1,313 people including 540 females received vaccines in
Rajshahi, 455 including 240 females in Chapainawabganj, 573 including 209
females in Natore, 1,138 including 478 females in Naogaon yesterday.

Besides, a total of 809 persons including 556 females got vaccines in
Pabna, 992 including 789 females in Sirajganj, 3,374 including 1,223 females
in Bogura, 309 including 108 females in Joypurhat and 560 including 232
females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
