6 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 13, 2021 (BSS) – Six more people were reported Corona virus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the daily infection rate is showing a rising trend in the last one week.

Health officials said the six new cases were reported after diagnosing 117 samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division and the daily infection rate of 5.13 percent today.

Earlier, the daily infection rate remained below the five percent k almost during the last one month and below the 10 percent mark during the last more than two and a half months in the division.

Among the six new patients diagnosed today, three were reported positive after diagnosing only 23 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The three new patients include two from Rangpur and one from Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional Corona virus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, three new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The three new COVID-19 patients include one from Dinajpur and two from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,920 as six new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 15,914 patients stands at 4,072 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,344 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat, 1,026 in Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,732 in Dinajpur and 1,470 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
