15,914 infected with Coronavirus, 15,497 cured in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 13, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 15,914 people have so far been
infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19), and of them, 15,497 were cured in
all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the infection rate continues rising in recent days in
the division where registered citizens are rushing to the vaccination centres
at government hospitals to take the COVID-19 vaccines daily with huge
eagerness.

“The number of COVID-19 cases rose to 15,914 as four more patients were
reported after testing 94 samples with 4.26 percent infection rate on
Friday,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,09,982 collected samples of Rangpur
division were tested till Friday, and of them, 15,914 people were found
COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.47 percent.

The district-wise break up of total 15,914 patients stands at 4,070 in
Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,342 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat, 1,025 in
Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,731 in Dinajpur and 1,470 in Gaibandha in
the division.

“The 15,497 recovered patients included 3,970 of Rangpur, 773 of
Panchagarh, 1,303 of Nilphamari, 954 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,477
of Thakurgaon, 4,602 of Dinajpur and 1,438 of Gaibandha districts in the
division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said
the number of fatalities remained steady at 309 with no more death reported
from anywhere on Friday in the division.

The district-wise break up of the 309 fatalities stands at 72 in Rangpur,
111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 29 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in
Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,
he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.94 percent in the division
where the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients currently stands at 97.38
percent.

Among the total 15,914 COVID-19 infected patients, seven are undergoing
treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,497 patients and 309
deaths while 101 are remaining in home isolation across the division.

“Since the beginning, a total of 95,920 people of the division were put in
institutional isolation or home quarantine, and of them, 93,380 were released
till Saturday morning,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu called
upon everyone to strictly abide by the health directives even after taking
the COVID-19 vaccines.
