Indian president, PM congratulate France for winning football World Cup

NEW DELHI, July 16, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) — Indian President Ram Nath
Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the French
football team for winning this year’s World Cup in Russia.

“Congratulations to the determined players from France for winning the
FIFA World Cup! Special wishes to the gallant Croatia team #PresidentKovind,”
the Indian head-of-state tweeted.

Modi also took to Twitter to extend his wishes to France who bagged the
2018 Football World Cup by defeating Croatia in the final match by 4-2 held
in Moscow Sunday.

“An excellent match! Congratulations to France for winning the
@FIFAWorldCup. They played wonderfully through the tournament and during the
#WorldCupFinal @EmmanuelMacron,” he said.

The Indian Prime Minister also lauded Croatia for getting to the final
as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin for the “successful organisation”
of the World Cup matches.

“I also congratulate Croatia for their spirited game. Their performance
in the World Cup has been historic,” Modi tweeted.
