Kolkata Mohammedan to release Jamal on March 18

DHAKA, March 11, 2021 (BSS)- Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general
secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag today said Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club will
release Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan on March 18 as BFF officially
received a confirmation letter from Kolkata Mohammedan on Wednesday.

Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan is currently in India playing for Kolkata
Mohammedan Sporting Club in the I-league.

“After the last meeting of national teams committee, we officially sent a
letter to Jamal Bhuiyan’s club Kolkata Mohammedan requesting them to release
Jamal Bhuiyan for his participation in the Tri-nation tournament in Nepal and
the club officially confirmed BFF mentioning that as Jamal Bhuiyan is the
captain of Bangladesh, so it’s also a matter of pride and joy for the club
and the club will release Jamal on March 18,” Shohag told the newsmen today.

After being discharged from Kolkata Mohammedan, whether Jamal will come to
Bangladesh on the following day (March 19) or join the team directly in
Nepal, will be finalised in a day or two.

“Probably Jamal is expected to reach Nepal either on March 21 or 22 but
we’ll try our best so that he can reach Nepal in the quickest possible time,”
Shohag added.

Meanwhile, the national booters will start their residential training camp
from Saturday (March 13) for the tri-nation tournament under the supervision
of head coach Jamie Day. Bangladesh will take on hosts Nepal and Kyrgyzstan
Under-23 team in the tri-nation series, which will take place in Kathmandu
from March 23-29. Each team will play one match against each other and the
top two sides will play the final on March 29.

Bangladesh football team does not need to go through a quarantine period
in Nepal but the booters will require COVID-19 test from here while another
test will be done in Nepal. Those who will test negative, will be able to
join in the team’s practice session, Shohag added.
