JS body for timely implementation of projects

DHAKA, March 10, 2021 (BSS) – The 8th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textiles and Jute was held today at the Sangsad Bhaban with the chairmanship of Committee Chairman Mirza Azam.

During the meeting, the committee suggested for quick implementation of the ongoing development and welfare projects including the infrastructure projects taken in the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said a press release here.

The committee also recommended that all the projects have already been approved must be completed expeditiously and necessary steps must be taken to properly monitor the construction works.

The committee thanked the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for making the activities of BJMC operational as a huge amount of money was allocated during the Covid-19 period in this particular sector.

The committee also thanked the people concerned for their outstanding works at BJMC.

The parliamentary watchdog further recommended the management of textile mills under Public Private Partnership (PPP) to implement the decision to pay the dues of BJMC workers on time and to take effective steps to pay other dues including unpaid savings certificates.

The committee also recommended building a textile engineering college by observing different regions of the country.

In order to increase jute production, coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture was recommended to facilitate the supply of high quality seeds from the Jute Department.

Committee members Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Ranjit Kumar Roy, Mohammad Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Shaheen Akter, Abdul Momin Mandal, Khadijatul Anwar, Tamanna Nusrat (Bubli), Habib Hasan, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, heads of various departments and concerned officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat attended the meeting.
