Indira lauds women’s participation in workplaces

DHAKA, March 10, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Women and Children Affairs
Fazilatun Nessa Indira today said the womenfolk are contributing towards the
overall development of the country by sincerely and efficiently performing
their duties at workplaces.

She stated this while addressing a view exchanging meeting of the 65th
session of the Commission on the Status of Women held at a city hotel here.
Women and Children Affairs Ministry in association with UN Women Bangladesh
has arranged the event.

She added that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has empowered women in high
positions of the administration.

There are currently about 2,000 judges in the courts. Of them, over five
hundred are women, she said, adding that women are working in various
significant posts, including secretary and major general.

Earlier, there were no women Superintendent of Police (SP), but when the
Prime Minister came to power she appointed female SPs, she said.

Later, a five-party discussion with representatives of 11 ministries and
10 NGOs including Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, National Women Lawyers
Association, Ain o Salish Kendra and BRAC was held the same venue. Md Saidul
Islam, secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, presided over the
function.
