Coronavirus: 15,886 infected, 15,485 cured in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 10, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 15,886 people have so far been
infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19), and of them, 15,485 cured in all
eight districts of the division.

Health officials said the daily infection rate continues marking a little
rising trend in recent days amid an increasing recovery rate in the division
where citizens are rushing daily to the vaccination centres to take the
COVID-19 vaccines.

“The number of COVID-19 cases rose to 15,886 as 12 more patients were
reported after testing 212 samples at 5.66 percent infection rate on
Tuesday,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,09,426 collected samples of Rangpur
division were tested till Tuesday night, and of them, 15,886 people were
found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.52 percent.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,886 patients stands at 4,062 in
Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,340 in Nilphamari, 967 in Lalmonirhat, 1,022 in
Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,720 in Dinajpur and 1,467 in Gaibandha,” Dr.
Siddiqui added.

“The 15,485 recovered patients include 3,967 of Rangpur, 771 of
Panchagarh, 1,302 of Nilphamari, 953 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,473
of Thakurgaon, 4,601 of Dinajpur and 1,438 of Gaibandha districts in the
division,” he continued.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the
number of fatalities remained steady at 309 with no more death reported from
anywhere on Tuesday in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the 309 fatalities stands at 72 in Rangpur,
111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 29 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in
Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,”
he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.95 percent in the
division,” Dr. Md. Ahad said.

Among the total 15,886 COVID-19 infected patients, four are undergoing
treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,485 patients and 309
deaths while 88 remaining in home isolation across the division.

Since the beginning, a total of 95,795 people of the division were put in
institutional isolation or home quarantines, and of them, 93,288 released
till Wednesday morning.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged
citizens to abide by the health directives even after taking the COVID-19
vaccines.
