14 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 10, 2021 (BSS) – Fourteen more people were reported
coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the daily
infection rates continues showing a rising trend again during the past five
consecutive days.

Health officials said the 14 new cases were reported after diagnosing 180
samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division at the daily
infection rate of 7.78 percent today.

Earlier, the daily infection rate remained below the five percent mark
almost during the last one month and below the 10 percent mark during the
last more than two and a half months in the division.

Among the 14 new patients diagnosed today, nine were reported positive
after diagnosing 86 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical
College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The nine new patients include three each from Rangpur and Gaibandha, one
each from Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Thakurgaon,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor
Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 94
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur today.

“All of the five new COVID-19 patients are hailing from Dinajpur
district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 15,900 as 14 new positive cases were reported today from across the
division.

The district-wise break up of total 15,900 patients stands at 4,065 in
Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,340 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat, 1,023 in
Kurigram, 1,514 in Thakurgaon, 4,725 in Dinajpur and 1,470 in Gaibandha,” Dr
Siddiqui added.
