Ron Sikder gets temporary bail in attempt to murder case

DHAKA, March 10, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today granted temporary bail
till April 11 to Sikder Group managing director Ron Haque Sikder in a case
lodged over attempt to murder two top officials of Exim Bank.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order as the
accused pleaded for permanent bail, while plaintiff Lt Col (retd.) Sirajul
Islam filed a petition to cancel Ron’s bail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheq Imam on February 12 granted him bail
in the case.

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested him in the morning of February
12 from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, shortly after landing here
from Dubai.

Ron and his brother Dipu Haque Sikder allegedly assaulted and attempted
to murder Exim Bank Managing Director (MD) Md Haider Ali Mia and Additional
MD Md Firoz Hossain by shooting at them on May 7, 2020.

A case was filed with the capital’s Gulshan Police Station in this
regard on May 19 and on May 25 the Sikder brothers fled the country on a
private plane owned by their company.
