DHAKA, March 9, 2021 (BSS)- Bangabandhu International Rating Chess
tournament began from today at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall-room
marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman.
Organized by BCF, Youth and Sports Secretary Mohammad Akhter Hossain
formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. The event was sponsored by
Shah Cement.
Freedom fighter brigadier general Shaid Ullah Chowdhury, executive
director of Abul Khair Group was present as special guest.
Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, general secretary of BCF and president, FIDE
Zone-3.2, Mohammad Alauddin, former additional Secretary and director of Abul
Khair group, were also present in the inauguration ceremony.
A total of 41 players including GM Enamul Hossain Razib, GM Ziaur rahman,
IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, WIM Rani Hamid are
participating in the invitational event and a total of 140 players are
participating in the below 2100 rating event.
Cash prize of Taka Three lakh and fifty thousand will be given to
invitational event and Taka two lakh will be given in below 2100 rating
group.
The second round games of both divisions will be held tomorrow (Wednesday)
from 3 pm at the same venues.
