Women can achieve remarkable progress in every sector: Speaker
DHAKA, March 9, 2021 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury today said women can achieve remarkable progress in every sector if
they build themselves as skilled workforce through acquiring knowledge on
different disciplines of development.
“Women’s are leaving mark of success in every sectors and different
professions through their capability, merit and skills,” she said at a
discussion of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) by joining virtually as chief
guest, said a press release here today.
DRU organized the programme titled “Women’s progress, barriers and
challenges in five decades,” marking International Women’s Day with its
president Morsalin Nomany in the chair.
The Speaker unveiled the cover of `Konthossor’, a special publication for
DRU’s women members. DRU also honored six senior women journalists — Mahmuda
Chowdhury, Farida Yasmin, Shahnaz Begum, Nadira Kiron, Sharmin Rinvi and
Angur Nahar Monty — for their contribution in journalism.
Executive Director of Nari Progoti Shongho, Rokeya Kabir, Editor of Daily
Ittefaq Tasmima Hossain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad
Maleka Banu, DRU General Secretary Moshiur Rahman Khan, among others,
addressed the discussion.
DRU women affairs secretary Rita Nahar presented the keynote paper at the
function.
