Tigers free in NZ after fourth negative Covid-19 result

DHAKA, March 9, 2021 (BSS) – The Bangladesh national cricket team is
allowed to move in New Zealand freely after all of the members and supporting staff were tested Covid-19 negative.

This was the fourth Covid-19 test of the Bangladesh team before they are
set to complete their 14-day quarantine period.

The team will leave the Managed Isolation & Quarantine (MIQ) facility in
Christchurch tomorrow (Wednesday), a high official of Bangladesh Cricket
Board (BCB) said.

“All of the players, team members and supporting staff were reported Covid-
19 negative after undergoing fourth test here,” BCB media and communications
committee chairman Jalal Younus, who is with the team in New Zealand as team
leader said today.

“The New Zealand management who was involved with us was happy for our
cooperation regarding the managed isolation and quarantine,” he added. The
team however had the last small group training in Lincoln Green today, he
informed.

After their 14-day mandatory self-isolation period completes tomorrow, the
team will depart Christchurch for Qeenstown afternoon for a five-day camp
before moving to Dunedin on 16 March.

According to the rules of New Zealand, the people are free to roam the
country once they complete the 14-day quarantine. In line with the rules,
Bangladesh team is now free to move anywhere.

Whereas in Bangladesh, the Tiger didn’t get such kind of facilities as they
had to be in strict bio-bubble during the whole tournament or series.

Bangladesh will play the first ODI against New Zealand on March 20 at
University of Otago in Dunedin. The second ODI is on March 23 at Hagley Oval
in Christchurch and the third ODI is at Basin Reserve in Wellington on March
26. The first and third ODI will start at 4 AM Bangladesh Time and the second
one will begin at Bangladesh Time 7 AM.

The first T20 of the series will be held at Seddon Park, Hamilton on March
28 and starts at 7 AM Bangladesh time. The second ODI is at McLean Park,
Napier on March 30 while the third T20 is at Eden Park, Auckland on April 1.
The second and third T20 starts at 12 PM Bangladesh time.
