Ireland Wolves vs Bangladesh Emerging team match delayed by two hours

DHAKA, March 9, 2021 (BSS)-The third one-day game between Bangladesh
Emerging team and visiting Ireland Wolves at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in
Chattogram today was delayed by two hours after a local support staff,
attached to the visitors was tested Covid-19 positive. The game started at 11
am, instead of 9 am.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) press release stated the match was pushed
back by two hours in line with the Covid-19 medical protocol for the series.

“On Monday a local support staff attached to the Ireland Wolves tested
positive for Covid-19,” the BCB statement said.

“As per the protocol, re-test was conducted on the suspected person and
close contacts on the same day. Test results for all these individuals have
returned negative today morning,” it added.

The teams had agreed that subject to negative results from the re-tests the
match will commence from 11 am.

It remains a 50-over fixture and flood lights will be in use to facilitate
the two-hour delay in starting.

This was the second such case in this series, after Irish all-rounder Ruhan
Pretorius had tested positive during the first match, held on Friday. The
game was called off.

The two teams had then agreed to play the second match, on Sunday, only
after all the players, including Pretorius – tested negative. Bangladesh won
that match by four wickets to lead the five-match series 1-0.

Before this series, the BCB had organized two domestic tournaments and also
hosted the West Indies men’s team successfully without any positive cases, in
the last six months.
