2 arrested over van puller Amin murder in Dinajpur
RANGPUR, July 16, 2018 (BSS) – Police arrested two youths for their alleged
involvement in killing of van-cart puller Ruhul Amin from Parbotipur upazila
in Dinajpur district on Sunday.
“A special investigation team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI),
Rangpur arrested the alleged killers conducting two separate raids in
Durgapur village under Parbotipur upazila,” said PBI’s Additional
Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Shahidullah Kowsar at a press conference
held at his office here today.
Kowsar said the arrested youths were identified as Ruku Parvez, 20, and Md
Rezwan, 19, of village Durgapur Purbopara.
The youths with their other cohorts allegedly murdered Amin, 36, son of
Khalilur Rahman of village Haldibari and dumped the body under a culvert in
Badarganj upazila of Dinajpur at night on June 6 last, he added.
Later, police recovered the victim’s body on June 8 and his father filed a
murder case accusing unknown assailants with Badarganj Police Station in this
connection next day.
The case was later handed over to the Rangpur district unit of PBI as
Badarganj police couldn’t find any clue in connection with the murder case.
PBI formed a special investigation team headed by Additional SP Kowsar and
appointed its Police Inspector Shamiul Alam as the Investigation Officer
(IO).
Under supervision and monitoring of Kowsar, the special investigation team
successfully unearthed clue and motive of the case leading to arrest of two
persons so far in this connection.
“As per confession of the arrested youths, we recovered the iron-made
handle of a tube well used for murdering the victim and his missing mobile
phone set and SIM card from their possessions,” Kowsar continued.
“After completing necessary legal formalities, we will produce the arrested
persons before a Rangpur court later today,” he said, adding that efforts
were on to arrest the other absconding killers of the victim.
