National cricket team’s pipeline to be bolstered through HP activities

DHAKA, March 6, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said they pinned hope on some of the players from High Performance (HP) Unit as they have the talent to make it in the national team within two years.

The HP team, in the name of Bangladesh Emerging team, currently is playing against Ireland Wolves. They had already played a four-day match against the Wolves and won it by an innings and 23-run margin. The first one-day between the two teams was called off after an Irish player returned Covid-19 positive.

Minhajul basically talked about the performance of the HP team’s four-day match as he was impressed by the players’ performance.

“The HP team had played a four-day game and performed really well even though it was their first match after Covid-19-forced break,” Minhajul said here today. “We couldn’t arrange matches for them in this period and so we had to form the team hurriedly. But still they played well and we got some good performers,” he added.

He said the basic objective of the HP team is to provide players for the national team.

“Through HP activities we want to make some players to bolster our pipeline. And we are going ahead with that objective. We have one-day and T20 games against Ireland. We want to prepare the players in a way that we can get some players from here for our national team,” he concluded.
